"Going Home" Medium(s): plywood, screws, wood glue, house paint, sharpie, hardware, paper mache (flour, water, napkin), newspaper. Dimensions: 32 x 3.3 x 9.5 Inches.
This piece focuses on the homesickness I felt in the first few months of being at VCU by converting symbolic measurements to physical measurements. 32 inches = the length of my leg, 3.3 inches = the 33 hours it would take me to walk from my dorm to my house, and 9.5inches = the 95 miles between my dorm and my house. The two wider sides are painted to represent the skies during the day and night, with the narrower sides painted to represent the morning and evening skies.

This piece is an enclosed space mimicking a convenience store. It includes two shelves, a counter with a register, and various products filling the shelves. This was a group project, in which I and three others participated with equal degrees of effort. I contributed the following: Built and designed the outer walls' base structure, contributed three of the product designs, painted the gas masks on the center shelf, and mixed the audio that looped while the piece was being shown.
